Power Your House with a Bicycle

In their Q/A YouTube show, NPR answers the question, “Why can’t I power my home using a bicycle-powered generator?” fromBooky_McReaderpants. And, NPR staffers learned that,

There’s a difference between the power you use and the power your body can generate.

Anybody who’s spent 20 minutes on a trainer knows that. So, no, you totally can’t power your home. NPR learned that, “The energy running into our homes from some distant power stations is the equivalent to having about 40 people pedaling bicycles for us.”

There are lots of things you can do, like bike to work, and there are generators made to power your devices and so on. Best ever is the Anachronaut.
