Bike Works Bikecitement 2020 Exceeds Goal

Bike Works Bikecitement 2020

Last night I attended Bike Works Bikecitement 2020. That’s a Bike Works 206 fundraiser. It was on Zoom, instead of in person, and they raised $250K.

In just a couple of hours.

Impressive. The full recording of “Bikecitement, The Magic of the Bicycle,” Bike Works’ virtual gala and auction, on October 11th, 2020 is below.

Here’s a quote from an email Bike Works sent out today

Wow. Last night blew us away. Though we weren’t able to gather together, the incredible feeling of joining together–in costume–for a common cause was so moving, and so fun. Together, we raised more than $250,000 to help expand access to bicycles and bicycling. And we heard a few very powerful stories from Blake & Maita, Alesia, and Doc that illustrated why that access is so important.

Many of those people I rode with during the first Peace Peloton earlier this year. And, Bike Works is an essential service that has been operating during COVID-19. The next Bike Works event is with the talented and engaging Tessa Hulls will present a lively discussion of the history of the bike as a tool for activism at 6 pm on Thursday, 10/29. Bike Work’s mission is to promote the bicycle as a vehicle for change to empower youth and build resilient communities. I’ve seen them do it and happy to participate in their events.
