So this happened after RVV and the Twitters and Facebook erupted into Sagz Pinchgate with disgust, defense, and discussion. What I said was this
Besides embarrassing himself, the sport, and the podium ceremony, Sagan dissed Cancellara, made the winner’s moment about him.— byron@bikehugger (@bikehugger) April 1, 2013
and remembered when I met women who work at C’dale. Also all the other women who work in this sport, behind the scenes, at the races, and on the podium. Ironic too that where most of our bikes are made, it’s a matriarchal society. See Jezebel’s take on it and Sagan did apologize.
Was not my intention todisrespect women today on the podium. Just a joke, sorry if someone was disturbed about it.— Peter Sagan (@petosagan) March 31, 2013
Expect he’s already been lectured and however it’s defended, he needs to grow up, get grounded, and learn the sport isn’t about his ego, wheelies, or podium girls.
