Devo Bike Auction

During SXSW Music, a custom, signed Devo-themed Trek bike will auction to benefit the Livestrong Foundation. Mobile Social SXSW attendees can see the bike, along with Lance’s TT bike, the Naked Baba Ganoush and more when we stop by Mellow Johnnys during the Urban Ride. And later at the After Party.

Man, I wish I had the cash to throw at this. So cool.

I guess fixies are really through being cool now.

We’re through being cool. Word is that Devo insisted Trek mass market those, but nope didn’t happen. You can’t see it in this flyer well, but the headset spacers are shaped like red energy domes, which were plastic flower pots.

Jumping the shark or not, that bike is badass!  Too bad I’m not well-heeled enough to throw my hat into the bidding ring…

Besides which, Devo was NEVER “cool”.  They had a giant following and lots of cred, but cool was never a word used to describe them or their music.

I don’t see how that’s jumping the shark at all, it’s totally cool and was made by a fan—who also happens to work at Trek.

Perhaps you’re right…after all, it’s Devo, not Britney Spears or My Chemical Romance.
