Fabian Cancellara Returns to SRAM

It was announced today that Fabian Cancellara returns to SRAM. AKA “Spartacus,” Cancellara was a classics and time trial specialist who forged many of his most important victories on SRAM.

Fabian Cancellara Returns to SRAM

I met him during a Gore event. And, the last time he was in the news, it was the greatest race in history. Starting in 2020, SRAM partnered with Fabian to support a variety of programs focused on getting more people on bikes. These include programs for amateur cyclists, juniors and a charity dedicated to growing cycling. Over the next few months more program information will be released.

I think this is great news and Fabian is the perfect ambassador for the sport. Road could sure use the marketing dollars too.

Returning to SRAM, who was part of so many of my victories, is great because this company’s mission is at the heart and soul of cycling. I am very proud and fortunate, and I look forward to riding the most advanced componentry in the world and to develop new projects together with SRAM

said Fabian. And, from SRAM’s Vice President of Marketing, David Zimberoff added

With his current work, Fabian has established something equal to his cycling career, all of which benefit and promote the sport. As for SRAM, we see this as a homecoming, with a more meaningful finish line.

I wonder if that means, later, Fabian will maybe race gravel? Cause the bike SRAM shared with the press release, has a derailer. It’s SRAM RED eTap AXS HRD.

Then again, if you look at the bottom bracket and the big water bottle, that’s an ebike.  So Spartacus is back with a motor assist?
