A Ride Ends with Historic News

Occasionally, Pam and I will just ride our bikes. I’m not out blogging a bike story or commuting and we’re not training, racing, or touring. North or South? On Sunday, it was the North End. We rode it meandering through Bellevue, Medina, and determined the best route as we pedaled.

Wet Gray Spell Broken

After the grayest, wettest Winter in recent memory, it was as if a spell had been broken and cyclists of all types were out. We passed a Cutter and I’m pretty sure Ric Ocasek on a bike. Also saw mid-70s Fujis and lots of cruisers on Alki. Cyclists would sit on our wheels for a while or go blasting past us setting their own personal best up and over Juanita. Also noticed a “pro” on a Litespeed carbon bike was more Pro than any of the Pros I know.

Couple of Masis

Near the end of the ride, we saw a sandwich board for a new bike shop in Seattle and stopped by to say hello.

After earning our calories on the ride, we went to Mission for burritos and this Queso dip.

When the Osama Bin Laden is dead news broke, the entire bar looked up at the TV monitors and watched Wolf Blitzer talk without any sound or captions. Back at the home, we turned on Obama’s press conference, after that a few minutes of talking heads, and then called it a night.

As I tweeted, last time we were in a bar with news this big was when Gore lost.
