New Shop on the Block: uBRDO

I have found my new favorite LBS. On my commute home through Kirkland, I found this small little shop that just opened its doors: uBRDO! From the site, U brdo is Croatian for “in the hills, or mountains”. I stopped by when I first noticed the shop was open and talked to the owner Scott Richardson. As soon as I walked in – it was pretty apparent that this shop’s identity is right in the BikeHugger niche. Swobo bikes, lots of commuter-specific gear, simple, elegant – lots of stuff just focusing on the beauty of the bike.

Hey – they’re open past 6! Most nights Scott is open until 8! We are open sign

I’ve been in a handful of times with my son and each time Scott has something new to show me. It’s truly an adult bike-candy store. He uses all the stuff he sells, and so there is some crossover into the backpacking market.

Scott is really kicking off his relationship with the community with a bang. He’s organized a tour-bus trip to Whistler for some opening weekend mtn biking. I’m not a mountain biker, so I won’t be going this time, but if he pulls it off again later in the summer I’d be interested in bringing up the road bike and do the ride the Pemberton. The trip is pretty much all-inclusive, plus he’s throwing in a bunch of swag. He’s still got some spots so get on the bus! Big Bus trip to Whistler

I love the statement on who they are:

We strongly believe in human powered pursuits. We believe that you can do anything you set your mind too. We believe in challenging ourselves wether it’s pushing the limits of endurance over several hours in a local race or bigger projects like cycling the Western Hemisphere, paddling across the Northern tier of Canada, or circumnavigating the pacific states by foot and pedal (all things on our list!).. We hold firmly to the mantra: “Get Yourself There”.

He’s doing what he can to help people get out of their cars, and onto bikes. He’s got a captive market with Microsoft and Google campuses near by. Let’s hope he’s able to help cure the traffic mess that is Kirkland each weekday.

Go check him out. He’s working on my troublesome road disc wheelset now and will be helping me setup my Nexus wheel next.
