According to this site, the movie is not fake and the cyclist is Neidert. Would like to see a modern recreation and take note fixie kids: all your tricks are old!

it’s crazy to see those old tricks, some of which are staples of artistic cycling but are thought to be somewhat innovative among the urban fixie scene.
mark, you could assemble those into your own film split screen with modern cyclists.

We love it and if we ever do a full-feature movie, will use it in a bumper—Neibert doing tricks around our logo, then falling over.
Charleston has a big fixie community. Here’s a video I created of the local Kulture Klash get-together from a month ago. At 0:58 there’s a nice little fakie wheelie spin. Watch the whole clip to see the bike “circle of doom” at the very end.
