Matt’s Trek District

Check mathowie’s new Trek District:

I swear, last new bike for a very long time. So far rides like a dream, the single speed gearing is just right for the flats and no grease needed ever with the carbon belt drive.

I’ve been riding a Belt Drive prototype and had it out during the Mobile Social Seattle. If you follow our tweets, you’ve read my belt skepticism and I’ve ridden systems that skipped, felt like I was pedaling in sand, and so on. Not the Gates Carbon Drive.

For shock value, grab the belt, then put your hand on your bro’s manpris. The result? No grease.

This has to be one of the sweetest bikes I have ever seen.

Mos def.

I like the wheels, but I doubt I’ll ever be sold on a non-chain drive.

I’d really like to try the Gates belt drive before I pan it…I’ve tried the other non-chain alternative (shaft drive), and it was ok, but not really my cup of tea.  This belt, though…it’s got a lot of promise.

I’ve got to say that I am WILD about the color scheme of the District—maybe a few too many nods to “hipster culture”, but damn it, orange and grey with leathery accents just rocks!

It will only be funny until he reaches down and grabs his chain and tags you back!! ;)

I wish there was a Soho version that looked as nice as the District (but had the internal gears).
