During the Tour, Our Local Race

Wasn’t really intended we’d go fast and we only did 3 times. It was understood we were all in shape, rolling a good tempo, and wanted to ride about 4 hours before getting home to a gray Sunday.

calve

Intimidating tone

I was concerned about Luis Antonio Vargas’s calves for the entire ride. With guns like that, he could fire them off at anytime; especially at a ride in the road. He did finally, on the last climb, and spun his compact gears with Gluckman at his shoulder.

I didn’t race today after breathing issues yesterday and feeling allergies today. Next week 3 races and all building to Cross season.

Footnote to this story is that the bike Luis was riding was once owned by Izzy from Guns n’ Roses. Don’t remember Izzy? He was the one that was high as shit and could play a tight bass line.

Ride with Luiz sometime and he’ll tell you the whole story. Keep your eye on ‘em too, cause he’ll hit hard.

Photomapped

Another Blue Sky Ride photomapped with Google.

Ride long enough in Seattle and you learn how to read the clouds and point your bike away from those that threaten rain towards the blue sky. On this map, you can see us head towards Mercer Island and turn around when we met a wall of rain. Back towards West Seattle, we stayed on the edge of the storm clouds, did a few small climbs, fast descent on Macadam road, and then back home.
