Design-errr handlebar lock

As reported by Wired, this handlebar disengages from the stem to become a bike lock. I’m not impressed so much by the design of the lock as I am with modern digital illustrations ability to make computer graphics seem so real. Because this lock doesn’t exist in reality…it’s called a design exercise, people.

Part of the philosophy behind the design is that breaking the lock would make the bike unrideable, which would make stealing the bike to be too much of a hassle so as to discourage thieves. Hell, the handlebar lock looks like too much of a hassle for me to want to use the bike, so I guess it would reduce chances that a thief would steal it. Unless they broke into my garage while I was out riding another bike.
