We bought a bike for an inner-city kid this year, donated it to his family, and that reminded me of the bikes I’ve gotten for Christmas. How bout you? My first was a Sears 3-speed that I rode like Evel Knievel. It was remarkably just like this bike, I spotted in the Summer of 07.
I rode that bike everywhere; later, I had a cruiser, BMX, MTB (Gary Fisher and Specialized S-Works) and then an Epic Allez that converted me into a roadie. I hope more kids get bikes this year and ride them.

To be honest, I think there were fewer bikes bought this christmas than last year.
I work as a bike assembler at a walmart here in mid-mo, and I didn’t have to work hard to keep up with demand.
I may have made up for the last guy’s light work load - bought an entry roadie for my son, a couch-like comfy bike for my wife (who tows the kids to school) and for my three year-old daughter Rosie I got the pink, training-wheeled “Wild Rose”, complete with climbing roses decorating the frame and seat - how could I pass that up?
But good work on the donated bike. I’m looking for a way to make that kind of contribution here in L.A. Any ideas?
