B-Cycle Launches

B-Cycle launched in Denver and is making mainstream news. We’ve covered the bike-share program last year at SXSW:

As enthusiastic as we are about bikes, we’re mixed on bike-share programs. We give B-Cycle’s audacious plan props, but also think bike subsidies would likely work better and question the bike design. Seasonal only in Denver too?

Your thoughts?

Denver doesn’t have to be seasonal—it can be lovely, or dreadful, weather any day of the year here, but we do have 300 days of sunshine..

Do you ride year round there? Did I get that wrong?

“Be sure to wear a helmet!”
Is this mandatory in the states?

And what do you do when you return to the station and all the docks are full?
Is there a B-cycle redistribution team planned to keep all docks evenly occupied?

Helmet laws very from State to State and municipalities. As we’ve discussed with our other Dutch friends, remember bikes are a minority on the road and some of the place we ride here it’s foolish to not wear a helmet. Different context. Amsterdam more bikes than cars. Not so here.
