Don’t Run Stop Signs

When I was the president of my local county’s bike club, I spent a lot of time making sure all of our riders obeyed traffic signals and I also spent a lot of time pleading with passing cyclists who blew through the signals, asking them to obey stop signs and stop lights. I’ve heard lots of replies from the cyclists I advocated to, mostly telling me to go screw myself.

This photo, posted by my cycling friend Sue says it better than I ever could. This is what’s left on the scene after a cyclist blew through a stop sign at Rockland Lake, a nearby park.

She added “…they were not wearing a helmet…The smell of all that blood was something I didn’t expect”

Wear your helmet. Stop at stop signs. Obey signals. Or you might end up leaving a puddle behind.
