The bike industry is known for recycling ideas and this is one we’d like to see make a comeback; with a belt-drive, internal hub, and road disc brakes, of course.
Who needs a tall bike or a roundtail when you can have a two-up tandem like this Malvern. As @mzsitka said, “bumping elbows is better than looking at someone’s butt for a whole ride.”

1) a tandem bicycle is by definition a bike with riders situated one behind another, ie “in tandem”. thus this is something other than a tandem; however, my OCD issues stop short of me actually researching the correct term
2) “bumping elbows is better than looking at someone’s butt for the whole ride”. this statement is obviously conditional, and anyone who rode with the female track riders from my old team would back me up on this.
Those bikes haven’t totally disappeared. I caught a similar on one video back in 2009, part of the collection of Bob “The Bike Man” Swaim.
