Have you considered the insulated Klean Kanteen? I haven’t tried taking it on the bike, but it seems to work well for my daily cup of coffee.... Read more »
We just switch between the bottomless (they need a better name) and bottomed and that also gives us more time between cleanings. The Rancilio is a remarkable machine, just keeps pouring everyday. We have the Rocky too. I didn’t see much need to go to the digital unit as we’re... Read more »
The jury is out on bottomless porta-filters. But I will be getting the digital temperature control unit. The latest hoopla in the coffee world is skimming of the ‘sacred’ americano crema. Jury is out on that one too.... Read more »
I’ve been a fan of Ladro since for year love that place and the espresso chip coffee cake. Drinkability while riding is a big one for me, but I’m leery of the handlebar mount ones (and I’m not a big fan of the aesthetics). As for the french press, if... Read more »

I second Champs’ recommendation. I bought a 16oz Thermos brand vacuum bottle. It slender enough to fit in a bottle cage and it’ll keep two cups of coffee hot all day.... Read more »
An imperfect alternative that I’ve used successfully while commuting is a half liter bottle like they sell at REI. If you use steel/alu cages without the security tab against the seat tube, it holds together on anything but the most epic pavement. For extra security, you can slip on a... Read more »

Hey new bike racers, don't let the "lap of shame" when you get dropped mess with your head. Everyone gets dropped, it's part of the sport.

Found this auto-tuned, reggae bicycle song was going to share with you, but it's about being the town bicycle and that's not a good thing.

I disagree with complex-and-breakdown-prone, and I think it also depends on your internal gear. The Shimano 7 and 8 speeds are a pain (they are a pain on a short tail, too) but the SRAM 9 (what I ended up with) is dead easy.... Read more »

Thanks, gents, for your thoughtful replies. A couple of things — first, I’ve never owned a coupled bikes, so I have no idea whether to believe Rodriguez’s claim of 15 minutes. If they are being “overly optimistic” on their website, I’d be disappointed. I am going to their open house... Read more »

Ketchup packets are in the news and PR didn't checked with Ketchup Advisory Board, cause we're not hearing about "natural mellowing agents".

I know bike shops that actively discouraged longtails so they don’t have to deal with them — they’re complex, break-down prone and honestly not really ready for prime time, but I suspect the Cargonistas prefer it that way. As much as we love Bettie, it’s ironically like a MG that... Read more »
I don’t think an e-bike shop can go it alone. There was one near here, they have retreated to an on-line store: http://www.electriccitycar.com/ I’ve met the owner, he’s not a super-duper idealist, but he thought it would be a worthy business if it succeeded. Unfortunately, I think that our problems... Read more »
i’ve seen the 6-pack from rodriguez firsthand. basically you use more than 2 S&S couplings to break the bike down into smaller pieces. actually i saw japanese custom builders using this idea on mini velo bikes (adult bikes with wheels 20” or smaller) five years ago, though they used 4... Absolutely not 15 minutes — maybe tossed into a bucket like they show or a big duffle bag. The perfect pack requires a lot of planning, trial and error, and preventive measures for TSA. This packing is about flying with a bike, not getting noticed by the gate agent, keeping... Read more »
Yes, I read the original post. I understand the concern about pack times. However, the Rodriguez website says it packs in 15 minutes. That seems to be in the range of the bikes you are talking about — the original post says a folder is ready in 10 minutes, and... Read more »

I think the “extra stuff” on the Rodriguez 6-pack is just ffront and rear racks, which does not have to be part of the bike it you’re taking it for business travel. I don’t understand your comment at all. But, in any case, I thought it would be worth you... Read more »

Agree and that quote could’ve just sounded elitist, but the point is the same.
